The Founder Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai

Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai is a man who transcends ordinary achievements and embodies the qualities of a legend. His life story, filled with inspiring moments, captivating anecdotes, and remarkable trivia, paints a picture of a multifaceted individual who has left an indelible mark. Retiring as the professor and head of the Department of Surgery at Patna Medical College and Hospital after a distinguished 35-year career, Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai mentored over 50 surgeons in their pursuit of postgraduate degrees. His journey as a doctor, entrepreneur, educationist, and philanthropist has made him an iconic figure and a true "person extraordinaire."

Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai comes from a lineage of exceptional parents who instilled in him values and principles that have shaped his path. His father, Padma Bhushan Dr. Mohammad Abdul Hai, left behind a lasting legacy, and his sons have followed in his footsteps, creating their own remarkable contributions. His mother, Begum Alay Fatima Hai, demonstrated unparalleled dedication in raising her four children, leaving a profound impact on their lives. Born between 1942 and 1949, during a time of political unrest and partition in the Indian subcontinent, the Hai siblings enjoyed a privileged upbringing in Patna, with a close-knit family and the tranquillity of a small town.

Despite his demanding professional commitments, Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai excels at balancing his diverse responsibilities. Dr. Hai's academic achievements are nothing short of remarkable, having been awarded MBBS Hons with Gold Medals in 1965, MS (Gen. Surg) in 1969, MS(Ortho) in 1971, FRCS (Edinburgh, UK) in 1978, FICS (US) in 1984, FIAMS in 1988, FAIS in 1994, and FIMSA in 2005. His brilliance as a student shone through consistently, earning him numerous medals and awards in subjects ranging from Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Surgery to Preventive and Social Medicine.

Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai's expertise and contributions have been widely recognized and celebrated. He has delivered guest lectures and orations at prestigious institutions across the country and abroad, sharing his knowledge and insights. His prolific academic career includes over 150 scientific publications and orations, both at national and international levels. These accomplishments highlight Dr. Hai's dedication to advancing medical knowledge and his significant contributions to the field of healthcare.

Despite the magnitude of his achievements, Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai remains grounded and continues to inspire others with his vast knowledge, experience, and commitment to the betterment of the medical profession. His illustrious career, combined with his philanthropic endeavours and leadership roles, solidify his status as a true legend in the medical community.

Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai and his wife have a son and two daughters, all of whom have pursued careers in medicine. Dr. Mohamid Abdul Hai, his son, is a laparoscopic surgeon in Patna, while his daughters, Tazeen and Zareen, have settled in New York and England, respectively. Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai serves as the managing director and chief consultant at Hai Medicare and Research Institute in Patna, as well as the director of general surgery and head of academic courses at Paras HMRI Hospital. He holds key positions in various organizations, including the chairman of Hai Foundation, chief editor of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) textbook of Surgery, and president of Maulana Azad College of Engineering and Technology. Additionally, he is actively involved in charitable initiatives, serving as the president of the orphanage Khadimul Islam and the founder chairman of the Forum for Literacy Awareness & Muslim Education (FLAME). Dr. Ahmad Abdul Hai's contributions and achievements in both his professional and personal spheres exemplify his unwavering dedication and leadership.
